Gun Violence and the Lessons of Tucson: Will the Chambers Once Again Be Loaded Against the American People?

Small amount of recognitio­n for the person taking down the shooter in this incident. You should be aware of the fact that a young man in a store adjacent to the shooting responded because he carried a concealed weapon. He responded hand on weapon without regard for his own safety with the intent to takeout the shooter. He saw the shooter and continued to disable and disarm the situation. This is something that would not have happened without the legal weapon that he carried. We do not know that if another had been carrying if the shooting could have been stopped sooner.

This article is a typical opportunis­tic statement and has no place in this time of concern for the families of those affected by the insane actions of a psychologi­cally disturbed individual­. The fault lies in the inadequaci­es of response to mental illness. The warning signs were many.
